The Despicable Me livewatch was fuuun! And we're doing it again next week. And the week after.
Though I doubt we'll be able to top this movie, because MINIOOONNNSSSSSSS!

I reached the conclusion that everything can become a crossover with Merlin. It's like the ultimate wild card, maybe because you can argue that the boys could be reincarnated into almost any couple.

My brother is learning how to cook. I feel like I'm not doing anything to better myself as a human being, though I did almost finish floor B09 on Etrian Odyssey.

Also I made the fanmix I was talking about. Long Live is so perfect for the trio, it makes me want to cry and pat myself on the back for a job well done. (I do that, on occasion.) Spamming this image everywhere because it took me forever to make.

Fun fact: at first I hated both prompts. How is it that the most hated prompts end up being the ones that produce the best results? Like when I wrote for "MPREG", or that random Placebo quote.

And when I like the prompts to start with, they are a bitch to write. Assignment for sherlockmas, I'm glaring at you!

Whyyy is my sister telling me that she got The Nightmare Before Christmas on DVD. It was on her Christmas wishlist. I mean, okay, she wanted it, but doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose of a wishlist if she gets it for herself two days before Christmas. Luckily I didn't get it for her. Because, uhm, I couldn't find it. Same with the earmuffs. Okay, I suck at shopping, but she's not helping and I'm flailing like mad because my greatest fear is duplicate presents. My family is kind of infamous for duplicate presents, thanks to poor communication skills. So yeah. Flailing.

Speaking of flailing, layton_exchange sent around the gifts and guess who managed to switch around the names of the recipients of her two stories? I feel SO stupid. I had two people politely thanking me for a story that had nothing to do with their prompts before I caught on and mailed the mods so they could send out the right gifts. Seriously, I'd double checked just to avoid things like these. Why am I made of fail.

It bothers me so much that I'm never consistent with the format I use to post these here. I should stick to this one.
Also since I love numbers so much I did a quick check and so far this year I've written around 50,150 words. Not counting unfinished stuff and WIPs and the couple of stories for exchanges (totalling 6,500 words) that I can't publish yet. Uhm, yay.

MY CARD IS GETTING ALL OH-SO-PWETTY! I CAN'T WAIT TO FINISH IT.

Also... uhm... I had this vision of the Harry Potter universe in which everyone is female and now I CAN'T UNSEE IT. I don't even know why. But, er, if you had to cast an all-girls, who would you pick?
I hesitate to ask, but after giving you raccoon/pug porn and Single Lady Doumeki I don't think I have any dignity left to loose.

So I actually had a pretty good day after my previous derp-filled entry, up until a couple of minutes ago when I finished the third fic of the day and my f-list told me that Yahoo is shutting down delicious. To which I can only say, why?
I've exported my bookmarks and waiting for fandom to reach some general consensus as to where to migrate. I liked delicious because almost everyone had an account and it was easy to save, tag and rec fics. Damn you Yahoo for killing off services that actually work.

Anyway, as someone would say, POSITIVITY! I'VE FINISHED MY YULETIDE FIC, DAMMIT!
I started this morning with a file full of random bits of characterization and vague mentions of what would be going on in the fic in no chronological order, and the finished fic was betaed and submitted to the archive before dinner. Maybe karma thought it was time I found a competent beta again. Dunno.
But whew, that's one more story done and I like the result. And that's the last I'll say about Yuletide before 2011, otherwise I'll slip and reveal what I wrote.

It's... probably best if you don't ask me about the pairings. Gwen isn't actually in the first one but I needed a "she" somewhere. Also I made myself sad by making Viv sad.

The house thing is still going through. Yesterday we went to see it and it's... well... it's okay I suppose. Honestly, the family who lives there now keeps the place awfully, there's dog droppings in the courtyard and the steps of the stairs are all chipped and there's the world's biggest spiderweb in the cellar. But mum's already planning a list of everything that needs to be fixed and my uncle says it can be done. He's going to help my parents with the contract and all.
I think the place would be nice too, once it's fixed up. It's a very old house and I love that. I've always wanted to live in a place that had an upstairs and a downstairs, don't ask why. Plus my parents really want their own place. I just don't want to think about how long it'll take to make the house inhabitable.
Plus I really don't feel like moving again. I say again though it's been 10 years already, but I remember last time we moved it was between December 1999 and January 2000 and we had New Year's Eve with cardboard boxes in the living room. Eurgh.

Writing my fic for merry_merthur. I kind of regret signing up for this one because the minimum wordcount is 2,000 words and the prompts I got are all out of my comfort zone and I'm worried that it might come out forced.
At least I'm taking advantage of the fact that my thesis advisor hasn't replied to my mail yet so I have nothing better to do. Though I think next week I might have to start studying for January's exams. I just wish I knew which exams are in January and which in February. Oh well. When in doubt, write fic.
I just wish I wasn't so easily distracted by tvtropes.

Also I'm in dire need of new songs for my playlist, I'm in that depressing phase in which I play the same 5 songs over and over again and all the others sound just boring.

Hi new friends from the Kurt/Blaine friending meme! Or possibly friend, there were lots of comments but few actual friend requests. Damn social awkwardness extending to the internet too. Anyway.

I finished S1 of the Vampire Diaries tonight and I have a few (non-spoilery) things to say.
First, how can Damon be so awesome?
Second, I don't know why but I read some spoilers that turned out to be actually wrong. Derp derp. Well, it helped with the suspense I guess.
Third, I think I have a crush on Damon. My sister might too. At the very least she agrees he's awesome. And my brother agrees (on the awesome, not on the crush part, or at least so I think; I'm still doing the bi-until-otherwise-proved thing). In short, when we agree on something, it means it's really really awesome.
Fourth, I felt sad for Damon in this ep, whenever he tries to to something nice life screws him no Kurt damn you it's not fair if your songs come up in my playlist and make me emo and holy cliffhanger Batman, I'm glad I can start on S2 straight away.
Fifth, Stefan's not as boring as I was afraid at first but he's still nobody compared to Damon.
Sixth, I ran out of things to say that aren't related to Damon.
Seventh, I ship Damon/mostly anyone. Seriously. Alaric, Elena, Sheriff Forbes, Stefan, anyone who can get him to drop his shirt.

Progress on my epic to-do list is going slow but steady. My thesis, which is not on there but is nevertheless a constant boring presence in my life, is kinda sorta moving forward too. And I got the 2 Layton ficlets out of the way.
I was going to write some Inception, only my first attempt sucked so much I don't think it'll ever get published. And I usually post all kinds of crap as long as it's complete, but this really sucks. You know when you have an idea and think "oooh, this is gonna be awesome!" and then it turns out to be a bitch to write and you hate the end result? Yeah, that.
So I moved to my merry_merthur prompt (did I mention that I hate portmanteau names already?) since I finally figured out what to write, got an outline and everything.

I was going to start writing it this afternoon but then I got this idea for a steampunk original story and I was all "oooh, this is gonna be awesome!" again... yeah, I never learn from my mistakes. But this time I had all the scenes playing out in my mind one by one until I went from "it would be cool to have a duel on top of a zeppelin" to something with a beginning and a middle part and characters, and then I thought of an ending scene which is the hardest part for me, and then I thought up the backstories of the minor characters and then I just had to at least outline it. The outline alone was 750 words, that's more than my usual ficlets. This thing is getting written. And I'm kinda... happy about it, I haven't written anything original in years because I kept going back to my one original plot and that's an epic saga with a dozen characters and plots that I'll never be able to write in one lifetime. But now I have my plot, which is totally an excuse for the two leads to get together with steampunk!London in the background, and it's still better than nothing and I'm gonna stop rambling and go write this.

The Inside Game of Thrones special aired, and it was awesome as promised. There's a bunch of new clips and it looks as the rumours about an April premiere are true.
I'm mostly excited about Petyr, I don't dig Aiden Gillen's moustache but he does look a lot like my mental image of Littlefinger.
Plus, eeee, Harry Lloyd! Ever since seeing him in Doctor Who I've been looking forward to seeing him as Viserys.
Also Benjen, and lots of Jon, and that scene with Arya, is that when SPOILER SPOILER happens?



Now if only that tie on camelot_fics could be broken... I'm giving it until tonight in the hopes we get a couple more votes, then I'm moving on. But I'm not happy. I hate having to take executive decisions. :|

The next couple of meme ficlets have been posted! This time I filled both Castle prompts. I loved the Beckett one, but the Castle one ended up being one of the longest. I don't even know why. Uh, whatever. I even managed to avoid spoilers, am I awesome or what?

With this I'm halfway through, and it took me just a month! So maybe I'll be done in another month and then I can do this Christmas prompts thing... Except I don't do Christmas, so it'd be for New Year. Whatevs. I'm rambling now.

Watched Inception again, in English - finally managed to download a nice clean rip! Obviously I'm getting the DVD too, but I'm bad at waiting. Anyway, Inception. ♥
Yeah, most likely the next fills will be the two Inception ones.

Lastly, if you're a Merlin fan you reeeally should head over to camelot_fics and vote so I can break the three-way tie that I have. It's really bothering me and I can't (for example) say that there is a tie for third place because my own fic is one of those tied. :/
So, either the tie get broken or the tie gets broken.

ETA: I finally made a custom icon for my layout so I wouldn't have to suffer LJ's ugly default one that always stretched the text. I totally still have pixel skillz.

Also I'm sad because I wrote this awesome fic for thegameison_sh's challenge but it might not fit the monthly theme.

And I don't know if I'm signing up for next round because I like Sherlock but I'd like to write other stuff too but it's short and usually the themes inspire me but I want more time for Glee but IDK.

First things first, bask in the awesomeness that's the newest Thrones trailer. One minute long and a bunch of new footage, though of course the most interesting bits are the ones that flash past in a split second. And there should be a 15-minutes "behind the scenes" special next week that I'm really looking forward to.

I think I'm (not so) slowly losing my mind. Having Teenage Dream in loop might or might not factor into it. I swear I wasn't so obsessed when I watched 2x06. It's just, I have no clue, it's like a virus. My sister isn't helping either. Usually when I'm on Planet Squee and start flailing like a madwoman she glares at me and makes me stop. Instead this time she made me watch the original video and this video of Chris Colfer being kind of a ninja. This from the lady who used to viciously steal the mouse away from me whenever I tried to go on Youtube. So, yeah, now we're teaming up and doing twice the flailing.

There were other relevant things in my life, like an exam and watching Rapunzel and it's my sister's birthday tomorrow. Oh, and I'm trying to compile all entries for R1 of camelot_fics and it's taking me way longer than I thought. Meh. I guess I should get the voting post up before starting to write one of the two Kurt/Blaine ehpeek fluff plots that I'm concocting. Yeah, not even trying any more to pretend I'm not a shipper, though it's weird to start shipping them during an episode where Blaine didn't even appear. It's marginally weirder than starting to ship Merlin and Arthur before watching a single episode.
