Can I say underwhelming? Not surprising really since I'm not one for Christmas spirit myself. I still can't figure out why that one song changed Sue's mind - though I'm in danger of starting to ship her and Will if they keep up the Foe Yay and Emma doesn't do anything silly like breaking up with Carl.
Brittany and Artie were adorable. I'm now a Beiste fangirl and I'm sorry I made fun of her in the first episodes. She's actually pretty awesome.

Now, the four minutes that actually made it worthwhile to wake up at 9am to download the episode and watch it straight away.
We now have context for Baby It's Cold Outside! I've spent the past few days wondering how they'd set it up. The answer apparently is, "Hey I've got a boombox and two minutes to spare, let's rehearse this song that we both know and are perfect at even though I've only just mentioned it to you."

The music numbers are getting more and more gratuitous. I'm not complaining but... Okay, I'm complaining, they cut "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", "O Christmas Tree" and "Holy Night" completely and they were my three favourite tracks. Boo!
Also Puck is usually quick to point out that he's Jew but he was strangely silent on the matter for all of the episode. Greeeat.

Anyway, Kurt. Damn you Kurt, go back already! I'm more than a little pissed off at Will since he only went to visit Kurt to ask for his help. And the club didn't even invite him to Sue's impromptu Christmas party, even though he'd always somehow got along with Sue, and that's really inexcusable.
At least we got that absolutely adorable scene with him and Blaine, and when he said "progress" I think I could ear the echoes of fangirls screaming from last night. I didn't expect Kurt would actually admit he was in love with Blaine before half a dozen episodes already.

It's just a crying shame that Kurt only got four minutes that were completely separated from the rest of the episode. He needs to go back to McKinley, stat.

In other news, I joined [livejournal.com profile] maridichallenge (nah, totally not stalking anyone!) and I'm taking part in their annual tombola, which is the Italian version of bingo. Or is bingo the English/American version of... well, whatever.
The chance of customizing my card with trendy colours and a 1-in-6 chance of landing the "duck-shaped vibrator" prompt lured me in. So now I have yet another list of things to write, but they're all pretty awesome. Apart from the mpreg prompt that had me go "FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" and complain for an inordinate amount of time, but then it was the first one I wrote because I'm insane like that.

Worse than gay porn (SPN, Dean and Sam, ~2,000 words, PG-13)
I wrote mpreg without actual mpreg. But it still warrants a mpreg warning for discussing mpreg. I still find mpreg awfully icky but now I can't stop saying mpreg.

6: wallet
7: ballpoint pen
13: grass green
53: in a minute (actually more like "next minute", not in a minute's time)
64: "Is that blood?"
66: "Stop doing that. Right this instant."

The lyrics prompts are in English and the picture prompts are self-evident.
Not gonna translate my comments but I figured you can still, er, admire the pretty colours and figure out which fandoms I picked for the prompts?
There's a lot of Inception up there, am I really going to write all of those?

By the way, the rules for tombola are that you get prizes for filling in two, three, four or five prompts on the same line, and tombola means winning by filling in all 15 of them. You now know something you didn't know before and you'll probably never need to know unless you spend Christmas in Italy. Who says my entries are not instructive?

Also, I finally closed voting at [livejournal.com profile] camelot_fics so I can de-anon for my own entry:
Fancy clothes (Merlin, Arthur and Merlin, ~600 words, PG)
Now... onwards to that Layton ficlet that's been plaguing me!

lol @ "mpreg" being right next to the FFFFFFFFFFFUUU face XD

I've stopped watching Glee 2 eps back. IDK if I can get back into it. The separation of Kurt's story line from everyone else and the way they set all his things up made me dislike him for taking time away from other characters. I know it's TPTB that make those choices, but when you want to know more about anyone else and all you're getting is Kurt Kurt Kurt, hard to separate the two. I hope I find it in me to get back into the show one day, since I did enjoy it a lot, but I watch so much TV as it is!

Layton as in ... Jack Layton, Canadian Politician, Leader of the NDP? *chinhands*

I'm in a Christmas spirit already, so I actually liked the episode, but I agree about plot, especially Sue story and change of view point was very weird, and Kurt not being invited... :(

Good luck with challenge! ♥

This was probably my biggest complaint with the episode, tbh. Not a single mention of the fact that there are other holidays during the winter/not everyone celebrates Christmas. :\ Given that they just had an episode on religion a few weeks ago, and that Puck was pretty vocal about being Jewish, I don't get why he was all up in the Christmas carols this week. I do know some families who're Jewish but still celebrate the more commercial side of "Christmas" (a.k.a. Santa and Christmas trees), but they couldn't have made one comment about other winter traditions?

However, Brittany's cute lines saved this one for me. The one about elves having rights, and about the family of mice whose gift to each other was rabies was hilarious. And her Cindy Lou Who was perfect :D

I didn't mind Rachel being in the Christmas spirit because it seemed in-character with what we've seen/heard from her; and it may be that Puck's family does celebrate some of those traditions, it just didn't seem right that Puck would go the whole episode without a single comment. (And yeah, the religion episode was full of fail for me - if not for the fact that it was Kurt-centric, I probably would've stopped watching halfway through).

I think Brittany's line was something like "Last year, I left my Christmas stocking up over Christmas vacation. An entire family of mice started living in it. Their Christmas gift to each other was rabies." xD
