Game recs

❧ I swear, I'm the laziest person ever. How can I even finish all of my exams like this? fffffffIhatehatehateuni
So what I'm going to do? Rec online games to you, of course! There are a couple of flash games that came out last week and are absolutely adorable.

❧ First is Grow Valley, part of the uber-adorable Grow series. Gameplay is very simple, just click on the icons at the bottom of the screen and watch the cute little guys hop around the valley and try to build a city. The aim of the game is to max out all buildings and it's just a matter of figuring out which order you have to click the icons in. I'd say give it a try even if you're not into flash games, it's very short and the animations are cute and there two possible endings, the regular one and a "bonus" one. (The link goes to the JIG review and also contains links to all the games in the series. My favourites are Cube, Island and Valley.)

Submachine: 32 Chambers is the next instalment in the Submachine series of point-and-click games, but it doesn't tie in to the main storyline. It's a spin-off, so it's much shorter than the other Submachine games, but that's not necessarily bad. Submachine 2 has got this huge-ass labyrinth and a hundred rooms, takes the best part of an afternoon to solve. Me and my sister have been fans of these for years and we positively squeed when we saw this. The graphics are good, the puzzles make sense, but we had to resort to a guide to find the last small stupid item we needed. (Again, linking to the JIG review with the full list of Submachine games.)

❧ And now for something different, Choice of Games. There are 3 games so far, plus some user-submitted ones, all playing like Choose Your Own adventures. (I'm an old fan of the Lone Wolf series.) So far I've only tried Romance and Dragon - they're fairly long games, mostly because they're completely text-based and there's a lot to read for each scene - but they're both fun games, though very different one from the other. For example, in Choice of Romance, you're a young noblewoman (or nobleman) spending the season at court. The good part about the games are that the characters are completely customizable, you get to pick their eye colour, their personality, everything. Something that I liked particularly about Romance was that you got to pick whether your character was male or female and whether they were looking for a male or female suitor. Okay, the game isn't perfect, you can't play a bi character (suitors are either all male or all female) and the change is purely cosmetic, but after years of playing a male protagonist rescuing damsels in distress this is definitely a step in the right direction.
The games have several different endings, depending on your choices.

❧ Now excuse me, I'm going to play Broadsides because apparently it's the best in the series and I have no idea why I've kept it for last. Any more game recs?

❧ ETA; I think my dad got hooked on the Grow games, last I saw him he was taking notes about the order of the buttons. It's either kinda sad or kinda awesome. Anyway I figured it out more quickly. Well, me and my siblings did. It was a joint effort. With me being the brains of the group, of course.

❧ ETA2; I still have to wake up at arse o'clock tomorrow because of lessons. It's the third time this week and it's just Wednesday. The only thing holding me together is thinking that it's the last week. Keep calm. Get some sleep. Don't throttle anyone.

❧ ETA3; Castiel is, in fact, awesome.

This is what I spent the week on:

The original idea was to make my 10 favourite scenes, then I realized I just had to put in Merlin and Arthur's first meeting, and their second meeting, and Merlin's arrival to Camelot, and the Dragon, and...
In the end I just made a picspam for the whole episode, and screw everything.
I'm happy I figured out a layout that's not too boring, and got the chance to throw in random typography.

I have about 5 hours of sleep to go before I get up, shower and pretend to be able to teach maths. Joy.

❧ My SPN marathon is going really well - been watching an episode a day and I just reached the halfway point. Can't see I'm much impressed with S3 so far, though, and knowing how it ends is killing me.

❧ The plans to re-watch Merlin have instead sadly stopped. Woe. At least I have my picspam. (Which degenerated into a huge MONSTER. Lately I have problems restraining myself, or maybe it's just this fandom that has such a terrible effect on me.)

❧ Out of the Summer anime, I like Ookami-san best. And I wasn't even planning to watch it at first. (It just goes to show, trailers and summaries are not to be relied upon. It was the same with BakaTest.) Also, the ED is awesome. Akazukin-chan Goyoujin~

❧ The Autumn anime lineup looks promising. I need to finish some older series before the new anime start. That is, hoping the new anime won't be full of fail...

❧ I'd watch Katanagatari now (it's really weird but kinda interesting, plus now I'm used to 40 min episodes) but I have to wake up early tomorrow. Remedial maths lesson again - if anything, self, think of the money! Not that I have a very urgent need for money, but I need to think I'm doing this for some reason. Sure it's not because I love the kid.

❧ At any rate his exam is at the end of August, so just a couple of weeks more. I need to start thinking about my own exams too, I had a look at September's schedule and started reading the book on Galois theory. Urrgh.

Oh right, can't forget about videogames. I'm kind of excited about Pokémon - new game coming out and all - I'm more old school myself, but my brother just got SoulSilver and I'm tempted to hijack it. Plus I saw THIS earlier on DA, and it's AWESOME.

❧ Also, Professor Layton 3, soon. We still don't have a title, but I'll bear with whatever stupid translation they bestow unto us. More puzzles! More Layton! More tea! I'm quite pleased at the sudden onset of cold weather. I can't remember being able to have my afternoon tea in August, much less sleep under the covers. I approve of this.

❧ And Basara. Oh gods, Basara. I don't know how it could possibly have happened. I mean, I got into it knowing that Masamune/Yukimura was kind of a big deal with the fandom, but in the end Yukimura's seiyuu is Souichirou Hoshi. I've hated him ever since Gundam SEED, because of Kira, and Yukimura is too much like Kira for me to care about him. Or Oyakata-sama, for that matter. Luckily Masamune (and other weird people I approve of) steal the scene most of the time, so I was cool with that.
Until last episode (5th episode of Season 2), then it hit me like a sack full of bricks. Masamune and Kojuurou! THEY ARE MEANT TO BE!
It's so obvious, I can't understand why I haven't been shipping them like BURNING ever since the first episode. Part of the fandom does, of course, and not a small one from what I gather. I don't understand why my slash goggles failed me. Not just that, I didn't even have a single ship in the fandom. Strange. It happens, but usually I consider all possible permutations of characters before giving up.

I was looking for something completely unrelated but Wikipedia tells me that "The fish is considered to be a lucky symbol in Italy."
Bwuh?

❧ Re-reading the entry's title, I think it's clear that I'm a lying liar who lies.

❧ Whoops, forgot to add: Autumn anime + Gundam + Masamune. There's also the issue of the Gundam 00 movie. I'll probably have to watch it (my brother's been talking about it ever since it was announced) but I'm not really looking forward to it. For me, Gundam 00 ended with episode 23 of Season 1. The most I can say about the new movie is, hey, Lockon's got two Haro! Except he's not Lockon, so...
Yeah, Masamune was relevant. Masamune reminds me a lot of Lockon, especially in episode 23. This might have a lot to do with my obsession.
