Beware the wall of text

So, let's get the bad news over first. And by bad news I mean the damn geometry exam. I hate that exam.
At first we thought there was no chance of taking the exam before January, but then word on the grapevine said that the professor in charge of the course would change and we'd get the chance to take the exam around mid-November. So I was all ready to start studying when I got the news that the faculty changed their mind and the professor stays the same. And maybe we can have the exam around December.
Which begs the question... the hell I'm doing all this month?
I still woke up at 8am because I don't want to feel as if I'm doing nothing at all, but truth is I am doing nothing at all. I could be studying, but what? I mailed a professor and tried to contact some classmates to see if they'd be interested in asking yet another professor about a mid-November exam, and in the meantime I don't know what I should start studying.
At least I've got an appointment next week to talk about my thesis, so if all goes pear-shaped I'll have that to work on. But this kind of organization sucks.
On a lesser slit-wrists-inducing note, yesterday was brilliant. We drove to GameStop (in the rain, and they'd blocked off the main street because it was flooded, and dad insisted on taking a shortcut so of course it took us thrice as long as it should have). But! We got everything we were looking for, and more. Especially Professor Layton and whatever they decided to use as European title for the third game, which is really adorable. I think me and my sister did an inordinate amount of squeeing about the illustrated book. I'm pissed that it's only in Italian, there's just no option to play it in English, but whatever. I still love Layton.
Also, I found a used copy of Scribblenauts and bought it on impulse since I'd only heard good things about it, and I can see why. It's a brilliant game, there's something to say for a game where you can solve the same level with Bike, Pegasus, Rocket and I don't know what else. Plus, the penguins are cute. And my brother got eaten by a cheetah, multiple times. It's great to play in company. The only downside is that we tend to steal the DS from each other and we don't have time to try all ideas that are proposed. (I think we still have to try summoning a tree in sandbox mode.)
We also got a bunch of other games more or less relevant to my interests, but I want to finish Layton before starting anything else. Any rate, I think we won't need to go back before the new year. Oh, and I know I'd said it would be my Wintermas present to myself, but I saw the DVDs for Merlin S1 and bought it. And I just know that at some point I'm going to try and listen to some selected scenes with the dub and I'm going to flail at the screen with the remote and scream obscenities, because I have no sense of restraint and I like tormenting myself.
Speaking of fun and flailing, last night we bid goodbye to Tennant as the Doctor. I was all sad, because there's some debate over whether he was the best doctor (out of the, drumroll, two we've seen on screen) but there's no doubt he's the cutest. Then Matt Smith appeared on screen and I think it took us three seconds to decide that S5. Would. Be. Awesome.
I think that's what I'll miss the most when I move out, watching series together. And sharing games of course, I've always loved how I got thrice as many games as the other kids. And it's still true!Apart from Castlevania of course, because I can't play platformers.
So that's another series we're close to finishing, and I have no idea what we'll replace it with. Maybe we should catch up with anime. And I keep hearing good things about The Walking Dead so I'm in a mind to check it out, even though, ick, zombies! It's probably better if I watch it during daytime.
Now, things to do:
❧
layton_exchange, forgot to pimp it before signups closed. I'm pretty excited about getting my assignment since it's going to be my first exchange in forever and also my first time writing for the fandom.
❧
thegameison_sh posted their third challenge and I'm all out of ideas. But hopefully I can do better than last month.
❧
camelot_fics, derp derp, I'm actually supposed to run this thing. Looking forward to posting the first challenge.
❧
merlin_land is doing this hilarious challenge where you have to pretend you're a character from the show. It's half RP and half madness. I'm Vivian, by the way, and I love turning everyone's life into hell. Apparently I'm very in character. :D
❧
merlin_muses, I think this is the part where I point at my icon and wink or otherwise make some very obvious hand signals? Sorry, I'm not really the queen of subtlety.
❧ And finally, since Wintermas equals Arthur/Merlin porn...or any kind of porn actually... or fic... or graphics... or anything...

Date: 2010-11-03 10:09 am (UTC)Oh yes! She should! She'll sit there perving on everyone until Arthur shows up [totally not sick anymore] Or they'll have a tournament to celebrate EVERYONE IN FANDOM showing up at once and she'll run into Arthur's tent and try to glomp him, but he'll have merlin on his knees or something. ~drama
