Oct. 4th, 2011 07:46 pmDay 2 of the torture known as fall semester. Mandatory OMG I'M ALIVE post and also LOL TIRED WON'T BE ON AIM sorry.
Today was... less bad than yesterday, maybe because I got home at 5pm instead of 7pm. History of mathematics was absolute crap. The professor has about 90 years and is as rambly and unfocused as you expect a 90yo man to be. He spent the first hour or so telling us what to do if we want to teach maths in a middle school.I'm positive maybe 1 out of 20 wants to teach in high school, I'm maybe considering middle school to be a bit worse than scraping paint off walls. I scraped paint off walls and taught to a middle schooler, so. No offence to those who want to get a job teaching children. Personally I don't mind the teaching, it's children I don't get along with. THEN he started telling us about Euclid, then he showed us handwritten slides topped off with a quote and wouldn't go on until someone told him which poet wrote that, then there was another quote from another poet, then got sidetracked and started talking about Alexander the Great. He also kept us way beyond the end of his class so everyone had to hurry to the next one. I thought this course would be about how the Greeks had a certain idea of mathematics and how it evolved through the ages, instead the closest it got to that was when the professor randomly asked if we knew when Gauss and Dedekind and Archimedes were born AND THEN HE WAS UPSET BECAUSE WE DIDN'T KNOW, WTF IF I ALREADY KNEW THIS SHIT I WOULDN'T BE TAKING A COURSE ON ~HISTORY OF MATHEMATICS. Yeah, I think I'm dropping this and taking something else. Anything else.
