HI NEW FRIENDS! :D

I suppose I had to warn you that I tend to update with alarming frequency - for your sake I moved all of the fanfic to a separate community but I'll probably keep rambling about my writing woes here too, so... you're still not safe. Sorry.

Now for something more interesting... a meme! I actually filled out most of the questions about 3 weeks ago, which probably explains my answer to question #4. I still didn't know about the epic-ness that is DRRR and the mention of a certain character didn't send me into despair. Sigh.
Well, whatever. MEME TIEM, BECAUSE REN LOVES MEMES!

This is a 20-day meme, where each day corresponds to a specific question. PFFT AS IF I COULD BE BOTHERED TO KEEP THIS UP FOR 20 DAYS! All follow the premise of this: What if you found yourself stranded on a desert island?

Day 1: Mode of getting on a deserted island:
Boat crash. It was an epic story. Titanic ain't got nothing on it.
I managed to get into a lifeboat, but being directionally challenged I got lost in the ocean and ended up stranded on this tiny little tropical island. Looking at the next questions I apparently still have a ton of my belongings with me, so that's okay.

Day 2: First five things you'll do there:
One... explore everything to check that it's actually a deserted island and not some kind of tropical resort. And also make sure that there are no shaking trees or huge giant carnivorous beasts in the jungle.
Two... hopefully in my exploration I've found food/water/a handy three-romed cave to live in. Otherwise I'd go looking for food and try to build a shelter, but I'd rather not have to since my experience with camping suggests that nice bamboo huts with palm leaves for a roof only happen in cartoons. In real life, what you get is a couple of branches tied together that will collapse on your head on the moment you sit down inside.
Three... pee. Whut! You mean you wouldn't have to pee at all until rescuers arrive? I'd probably attempt to dig a hole or something, to avoid stepping on my own crap.
Four... go swimming in the ocean, or in a stream/pond if possible. I probably wouldn't have a swimming suit so it'd have to be naked. The island is deserted and I made sure of that at point One, didn't I? Or maybe I'd still keep my clothes on, since Gintama made me paranoid.
Five... I'm running out of ideas. I suppose I'd try to keep a log of everything, or at least scratch marks on a rock to keep track of time. Maybe panic a bit because there's no internet point in my deserted island.

Day 3: Five favorite foods that you want to eat there for the next few days until you get rescued:
One... Bananas! It's easy to open unlike coconuts, and anyway I like them better than coconuts, and it's fruit so it's healthy.
Two... Roasted wild boar. I like roasted meat, I don't think I'd be able to survive just on fruit. I'd need someone to kill the boar and gut it and roast it though.
Three... Fish. I don't really like fish all that much, but I suppose fish on sticks cooked over an open campfire is a must when you get stranded on a deserted island.
Four... Wild berries. Back to fruit since I can't guess what other edible things there would be on a deserted island. I think I'd need a test subject first, to avoid eating poisonous stuff.
Five... Eggs! How could I forget eggs? There's bound to be some bird nest that I can raid. Mmh, omelettes!

Day 4: Seven fictional characters you'd wanna be stuck with:
One... Sebastian Michaelis. He's a must. Being a butler (and a demon) he wouldn't have problems hunting and cooking and making sure no wild beast ate me. It would be hilarious to have him prance around with a black coat and gloves under the tropical sun, too.
Two... Portgas D. Ace. This was a toss between him and Roy Mustang, for the shallow reason that they're both fire users and so I wouldn't have to bother hitting stones together or messing around with sticks or doing all the hilarious things that people seem to have to resort to wherever they're stranded on a deserted island without matchsticks. Besides Ace already goes around without his shirt on, so at least he'd be dressed appropriately.
Three... Captain Jack Sparrow. Since he already had the experience of being marooned on a deserted island. Plus he's lots of fun to have around.
Four... Hershel Layton. An endless supply of puzzles to keep me entertained while waiting for help to arrive. "That palm tree reminds me of a puzzle..."
Five... Lockon Stratos. Because I like Lockon. Well, also because ever since seeing the graphics for Friends I've been associating him with tropical islands. Also he'd probably able to get along with everyone and make himself useful.
Six... Tyki Mikk. As above, I like Tyki. Plus I could play cards with him. With him and Jack. Ooh, the awesomeness. We could have a cards tournament.
Seven... Jean Tannen. I do like Locke better, but Jean was awesome in the last book and he's really good at making himself useful and saving Locke's sorry ass, so I suppose he could look after me. Also a good card player.
Wow, this question really took me a lot of thinking. I really wanted to bring along someone from the ASOIAF-verse but somehow I don't think any of my favorite characters would do well on a deserted island. Maybe Asha, but it seems I'm not listing women. Plus I couldn't pick Asha over Petyr, even though there are several good reasons to do so.
I also wanted to bring someone from Gintama, especially since watching the Island Arc, but I ran out of spaces. Woe.

Day 5: People you know in real life you'd want to be stuck with:
My sister! So I could boss her around and I'd have to do virtually nothing. I mean, she'd have to gather food anyway if she wanted to survive, so she could as well share with her old silly sister who can't do a thing for herself. Also we can keep talking for ages without running out of subjects, so no boredom.
I doubt I'd want anyone else since most of the people I know from real life are either annoying or mathematicians and I don't really want to bring algebraic topology debates in my tropical paradise. Or maybe I could bring along all of my classmates and we could form some secluded community of math geeks and then find some awesome new theory that could be named after us...
Oh, scratch that. I just remembered the joke about the mathematician and the deserted island.

Day 6: A playlist of ONLY 20 songs that you wanna listen to:
1 Period
2 Hologram
3 Donten
4 late in autumn
5 only my railgun
6 Friends
7 Ash like snow
8 Daybreak's bell
9 Honoo no tobira
10 Shinkai no kodoku
11 Doubt & Trust
12 Hana Fubuki
13 Maggaare spectacle
14 Monochrome no kiss
15 Tsuuka chiten no MUSICA
16 Beautiful fighter
17 Aka no kakera
18 SIGNAL
19 Toki wo kizamu uta
20 Everytime you kissed me

Day 7: Building a house--what would you do and what would it look like?
As per my answers to Day 2, what I would do would be gathering sticks and leaves and vines and tie everything together and it'd look like branches tied together for some minutes, then it'd all collapse.
Then I'd have to resort to asking someone else to build a shelter because I'm apparently unable to.

Day 8: Three TV shows you'd like to watch while being stranded:
I don't really watch TV shows. Maybe LOST, so I could freak out more. And House, because House is fun. And if Game of Thrones ever starts airing, that's it.

Day 9: ONE video game that you want to bring along/have:
Whut. Only ONE game but THREE TV shows. So unfair. Then I'll say Fire Emblem since I haven't finished yet and it would take me forever so I wouldn't have to replay it over and over from the start.

Day 10: Five movies you'd like to watch while stranded:
One... The Lord of the Rings. Technically cheating since it's three movies, but this is MY deserted island. So LoTR is one movie.
Two... Pirates of the Caribbean. It's even themed! And three movies in one.
Three... Star Wars. Again, sneaking in more movies? Nah, it's just your imagination.
Four... The Matrix. I'm good with just the first one this time, thanks.
Five... The Importance of Being Earnest. 'Cause I love that movie.

Day 11: Writing a letter to someone really close to you--what would you say in it and how would you get it sent?
"Dear parents, your only eldest daughter is trapped on a deserted island somewhere in the middle of the ocean. Mum, DON'T FREAK OUT. Please send help immediately or I'll miss my exams."
Sent by bottle tossed in the ocean, I suppose.
Chances of success: zero. But it'd be appropriate-looking.

Day 12: Thing you'll probably miss the most but can't have while on the island:
Books, since apparently the meme didn't cover that. I'd much rather have books than movies.
If there was a question about books, I'd probably have mentioned:
One... At least a couple of books by Pratchett (Monstrous Regiment and Witches Abroad are all-time favorites, but there was a book in which Rincewind gets stranded on a deserted island if I recall correctly... that'd be appropriate.)
Two... A Song of Ice and Fire. The complete series. Lots of time on the island for a complete re-read.
Three... The two Locke Lamora books, because they're both awesome even if they kill off my favorite characters.

Day 13: You're now hallucinating--what would you see and how would everyone you're with react to that?
Haha, I'd probably see crazy things like pink elephants or walking gummy bears or pirates. Everyone would probably ignore me since I act funny all of the time anyway.

Day 14: A ten-minute call to anyone--who would you call and why?
Mum, because she'd get mad at me if she knew I had the chance to make a call and didn't call her to let her know I was okay.

Day 15: Your mental state as of this day.
Kind of bored. I'd probably want chocolate and my pillow and DUCKY! Ducky's my plush, er, duck. It's really big (as large as my laptop) and huggable. I'd say he's a fond memento of my childhood, only it was a present from my friends for my 21st birthday. They really know me too well. I love Ducky to pieces.
Back to the desert island, I'd also be in a serious state of internet withdrawal and surviving by doing nothing at all and watching the crazy antics of the fictional characters I brought along.

Day 16: An exotic animal you found on that island and would want to adopt as a pet.
A monkey. I'd call him Brother (because I call my brother "Monkey") and teach him how to do simple sums and fetch bananas for me.

Day 17: Most desperate thing you've done while on the island.
Uh... I suppose going around and asking everyone, animals and plants included, if they have a walkthrough for Fire Emblem?

Day 18: Way of being rescued.
It'll be even more epic than my arrival!
Let's see, the poker tournament is well underway. Layton was eliminated first because he kept trying to suggest puzzles revolving around cards rather than playing properly. Then I got a full and decided to raise my bet, forgetting that most everyone is cheating, and ended up losing all of my money (in the shape of shells or pebbles, but whatever).
Then Tyki accuses Jack of cheating, and Jean accuses Tyki of cheating... At which point everyone pulls out their weapon, except from Jack who steals the shells and attempts to run away with them.
In the ensuing confusion Ace sets the jungle on fire, and the smoke attracts the attention of a passing ship, which rescues all of us.
The end. :D

Day 19: First five things you'll do after being rescued and now at home.
One... Hug Ducky.
Two... Take a very, very long hot shower.
Three... Sleep for the next 48 hours in my own bed.
Four... Eat all of my favorite foods, rice, pizza... CHOCOLATE!
Five... Get on the computer, freak out over whatever I missed during my absence, then start writing my epic adventures.

Day 20: How you'll explain your long absence to your friends on LJ and the title of that entry.
I'd write everything over several entries crammed full with stupid little details and I'd create at least half a dozen new tags. The title would probably be all in caps and refer to some inside joke that only those who were on the island with me would get.
