When my mum said the place was not well-kept I thought she was exaggerating as always (you know, mothers!) buuut... yeah, the place was a mess even for my considerably lower standards. The rooms they don't use (like the courtyard and the spare room) have just furniture and items tossed around. :/ No spiders in the cellar though, at least from what I saw. But I'm so not going to be the one who cleans that up.
