It's complicated. The system here makes it almost impossible to pass all exams in time so after I finished my 3rd year last summer I still had 5-6 exams to go. Since I've already attended all required classes and only need another chance at taking the exam (in a couple of cases I just plain didn't have the time to sit them because it was at the same time as another exam), it'd be silly to wait until the next exam session in January/February. So standard practice is to contact the professors, especially the ones who don't have a written exam, and ask if we can take their exam earlier (kind of unofficially). tl;dr: yes we can if the professor is nice enough.
HAHAHA. You know, there's a building on campus that's... tall and kind of cylindrical and it's called the Eggplant. I shit you not. There's some offices or something, but everyone calls it the Eggplant.
