Imagine that I'm flailing about because I want to show you my loot~
That awkward moment when I forget to put sugar in my tea and decide to drink it without sugar because I can't be bothered to go down two flights of stairs to the kitchen. But then I go back four flights of stairs to retrieve my giraffe hat. I wear a giraffe hat now, giraffe hats are cool. But let's proceed in an orderly manner.
I saw Midnight in Paris last Sunday. Without spoiling anything, I liked it! Some of the references were a bit too obscure for me, but the ones that I did get were great. Plus there were a lot of funny moments. I saw it in the old cinema a few streets from my home - the only one left in town, the multiplex attached to the shopping centre and food court made all the others close. Anyway, I like this old cinema a lot because it's cozy and generally the people are nicer. Everyone was laughing during the scene with Dali (Adrien Brody), and Hemingway was awesome too. I didn't think much of the protagonist, and his fiancée was over the top, but all the other characters were great.
Plus. Today I had the best day. Ever.
I went to the Fiera in Milan, I'd never been there but it's this huge space outside the city where they make events and expos, there's always something going on. This week they have stalls from all over the world selling local stuff, a lot of it is handmade, the place is huge and really really awesome.
There were 10 areas and each one was from a different part of the world. Most of the areas were regional stuff from Italy, which we skipped because we don't really care about, but there were a lot of foreigners so I guess from their point of view it'd be all ~exotic. By the way, if you're ever in or around Milan on the first two weeks of December, go to Artigiani in Fiera, it's really awesome and it'll solve all of your Christmas shopping. In the whole afternoon we only managed to view two of the areas, the ones from America & Africa & Asia, but I think they were by far the most interesting. We had E to guide us since she'd been there last years already, which is good since the place is huge. Huuuuge.
And since I have no sense of measure, I bought a lot of stuff. A lot. On the train ride back, I must have looked ridiculous because I had so many shopping bags, and also because I was wearing my giraffe hat.
So I guess I can do shopping too, provided that there's a sufficiently large array of items to choose from, and also that stuff is colourful. I swear, I'm attracted to bright colours. I'm like a kid. So here's pics of what I got, under the cut because OHSHIT REN, HOW MUCH DID YOU BUY.

Scarf! I saw so many scarves today, I lost track. Every other stall sold scarves. And I'm weak to scarves and look at the pretty colours!

Blah, the quality of the photos is shit, but I'm tired and can't be bothered. My new wallet! Mine was kinda... falling to pieces. I've been meaning to buy a new one for ages, but I'm bad at buying stuff that I need because it's so boring. But this one was pretty and it's purple and there's decorations on it! I needed it. Of course, I didn't consider that it's huge and unyielding and not as practical as the old one but URGH THE PRETTY. It was calling to me.

I got this canvas bag for the ridic price of 3€. Probably would have bought it even if I didn't need one, but I've been wanting one for a while, so yeah. MY BAG. MY PRECIOUSSS. I should mention that a lot of the things for sale are very cheap. Unless you want the huge hand-carved mahogany giraffe sculpture. Everything else is a bargain.

Some knick-knacks.
The red lantern is a miniature Chinese lantern, which can't be lit but it's more like a wind chime. I'm pondering about hanging it above my door - I used to have a dreamcatcher but it got misplaced when I moved and idk which box it ended up in; and anyway a Chinese lantern would be cooler.
The red pear is actually a painted pumpkin from Peru, or somewhere else in South America. I want to give it to mum when she makes the Christmas tree next Thursday, since all of her decorations are one of a kind I thought she'd like it. It adds to the weird.
The tiny glass thing is a fish.

Can't take any good pictures of it because it's transparent and shiny, but it's sooo pretty and I'm going to wear it even though I don't like necklaces, but shiny fish!

The giraffe hat!stfu peyton it's so not a monkey. There were a lot of stalls with animal hats, so I knew I had to get one at some point. My friends said it was a funny hat, so I gave up for a while. I also saw a not-funny grey hat (all hats are funny tbh, but this wasn't as funny as the animal hats) which I liked a lot, but sadly it was too big for my head.

THE GIRAFFE HAT FITS ME PERFECTLY! This one was far superior to the others that I saw, because it has ears! I love it and I'm going to proudly wear it to classes, and then I'm going to feel a bit silly for doing so.
Lastly... my new jacket.

I love this jacket. IDK if it's noticeable but it's asymmetrical, it zips diagonally from the left side.

Probably still not noticeable. But it's so awesome. I saw it towards the end of the afternoon and I didn't want to buy it because it cost more than the money I had left, and the guy at the stall insisted and knocked the price down. I said no and walked away, but P used her enabling powers and made me go back and buy it. For which I'm glad, because idk where else I'll find a jacket for 25€, and also I like it so much. Totally not my style, but I like it so much, and I'm so going to wear it once the weather outside is no longer freezing.
So yeah, presents. I also got presents for everyone, and by everyone I mean my immediate family. But still, they're hard to shop for and I can't believe I'm already done with Christmas presents for them and it's so early. Also, my brother gets the most awesome present ever.

...Not for my brother. The light is shit as always, but those are purple earmuffs for my sister. She wanted earmuffs for Christmas last year and it drove me mad because I didn't know where to find them. It's about one year late, but those are fluffy and purple and I think she'll like them. P mocked them, then on the way back she borrowed them because her ears were cold. Score one for Team Funny Headgear.

A coverlet, from somewhere in India judging from the elephants. This is for my parents. I cop out every year and give them a joint gift, because idk what to get for my dad. He likes bugs and plants and my mum buys most of his clothes because he doesn't seem capable to. So what I do is I find a gift that my mum might like and then I say it's for "mum and dad". I think this year's is a good one, dad might even like the elephants.
And now, for the most awesome purchase ever...

I GOT MY BROTHER A KATANA FOR CHRISTMAS. It's a blunt one, obvs, and also a short one because where the hell would he put the hueg ones, but. A. Katana. P thought I was joking about buying my brother a katana. I never joke about katanas. Plus, you have no idea how hard it is to shop for my brother. He took from dad and I can't even give him a joint present with my sister. But katanas are awesome. He wants a katana. I'm sure he does. I kind of despaired about the purchase because the guy at the stall spoke no Italian or English at all and he was trying to tell me something which as far as I knew could have been instructions for ritual disembowelling, but then I realized he was asking if I wanted the wooden support too. Which ofc I wanted. So my brother can ~properly display his (fake) katana in his room. If this doesn't win me at least ten thousand cool sis points, idk what will.
So yeah, that's about one month of allowance, but I'm trying to rationalize it by considering that all of those purchases were 1) presents, 2) stuff that I need, or 3) PRETTY!
OMG I'M SO GOING BACK NEXT YEAR. Now I'm going to collapse somewhere because the train rides were endless and I walked around four hours and I also went to classes this morning urgh I'm so tired.
